Since Covid-19, we began offering remote therapeutic yoga sessions via the Zoom platform. These practices are led by bobiane, a certified therapeutic yoga instructor with Madison and Kim as assistants.
Life is stressful enough, but when the experience of the Covid-19 is added to the mix it can feel unsurmountable and overwhelming. RSA would like to invite the community to our virtual yoga practice. Among other benefits, yoga will help you experience increased energy, improved balance and flexibility, decreased anxiety and depression, better stress management, greater sense of peace and improved overall fitness.
We are offering evening and morning practices each week. Virtual Yoga programming is safe and therapeutic via the Zoom platform.
If you would like to sign up, you can contact bobiane at 310-963-1856 or Kim at Kim@rimspecialathletes.org
For additional virtual Adaptive activities such as: ASL (American Sign Language), exercise classes, line dancing, and gardening go to Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra’s website, www.disabledsportseasternsierra.org.
WINTER ACTIVITIES
The RSA Foundation is in partnership with Snow Valley Mountain Resort (located between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear) to provide a wide variety of snow activities – including independent skiing (with some or little supervision), three and four-tracking, bi-ski and mono-skiing with each service specifically tailored to each participant’s capabilities and interests.
The winter package includes instructors, equipment, and ski lift access for a 2 1/2 hour morning session, and can be extended to include an additional 2-hour afternoon session if time permits.
Ski instructors are PSIA trained and certified, with the Rim of the World Special Athletes Foundation providing at no cost a wide range of equipment to adapt to each specific need. A discounted fee will be required by Snow Valley for mountain use.
Lessons are taught 7 days a week. The Snow Valley Mountain Resort cost is $154 for the lesson. The second lesson on the same day if available and appropriate is an additional $89.00. The cost of the lesson includes instruction, lift ticket, rental of skis or snowboard, boots and all adaptive equipment and lifters as needed. The Adaptive Program is offered as a private lesson format (one on one, two on one) under the supervision of our specialized instructors certified in adaptive techniques.
Lessons must be booked in advance through the Snow Valley Adaptive Sports Center office at (909) 867-2751ext. #125 or #135. The lesson will be scheduled after we have reviewed the completed student intake form.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES
In the warm weather, the RSA Foundation offers a wide range of activities, including water sports (kayaking, paddle boarding, water bike), fishing, biking, golf, hiking and many other outings. Our purpose is “to have the adaptive athletes learn a new skill and, most importantly, develop self-confidence from the experience.”
…and have fun too!
The water sports and other outdoor experiences are centered at Lake Arrowhead and surrounding communities. There is no cost for the summer activities (at the current time).
YEAR-ROUND ACTIVITIES
